Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive season.
The twenty-seven-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
A Year of Dominance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Statistics
Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a record £11m in prize money.
She received almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking extended hiatus after the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after making five championship matches.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
